Loman is a small town in the far north of Minnesota, located on the banks of the Black River where it flows into the Rainy River right on the Canadian border about half way between International Falls and Birchdale. The Loman community is home to great fishing, hunting, bird watching and many other outdoor activities. About a dozen homes, the Bethany Lutheran Church with the attached community hall, a U.S. Post Office, County garage, State Highway Department garage and the Loman Fire Hall, make up the community located in the unincorporated Township of Loman in Northwest Koochiching County. The Black River Mennonite Church is located just 3 miles south of Loman on County Road 32 S. Logging and farming are the main industries in the area. Camping is available for free at the Loman Park right on the Black River and next to Highway 11 which goes right through the small community. There is a boat ramp into the Black River in Loman Park, with access to the Rainy River during high water flows.

Some of the Community events include:

  • Church Spring Dinner
  • Church Harvest Dinner
  • Black River Mennonite Church youth summer Bible Camp
